The U.S. Department of State, Office of Private Sector Exchange has recently announced that they will be conducting random visits of J-1 Host organizations in the coming weeks. If you host J-1s in the trainee or intern programs and an officer comes to visit your site, please welcome them and show them around your organization.

The Office of Private Sector Exchange will be conducting these visits to help them gather data about how the J-1 programs are currently functioning. The visiting representatives will likely want to speak with the J-1 participants and their program supervisors to find out how their current programs are going. The Office of Private Sector Exchange will likely be interested in finding out the following during their visits:

How host companies are involving J-1 participants in American Cultural activities.

How well the training plan is being followed.

Are J-1 participants in a trainee or intern role and not serving as a regular employee.

How the J-1 program can be improved.

This will be a great opportunity for host organizations to provide feedback on what works well in the current J-1 program and provide any suggestions on how to improve it.
