Funmi Bab-Oke is a Supervising Attorney at Brown Immigration Law. She partners with high-growth companies, technology organizations, and foreign national employees to navigate the complexities of U.S. business immigration. In particular, she advises clients on a wide range of employment-based immigration matters. As a result, she helps employers secure and retain global talent while also guiding individuals through key professional and personal milestones.
In her role as Supervising Attorney, Funmi combines legal expertise with leadership responsibilities. For example, she oversees case strategy and also supports the development of team members to ensure strong client service and successful outcomes. In addition, she is known for her thoughtful approach, attention to detail, and ability to provide practical guidance in an evolving immigration landscape.
Funmi’s career in immigration law is shaped by a deep commitment to service, global mobility, and expanding opportunity. Before joining Brown Immigration Law, she worked at an Am Law 100 law firm. She later worked in the legal department of a Fortune 500 technology company. In-house, she managed large-scale immigration compliance programs for a significant population of foreign national employees. As a result, she gained a clear understanding of the challenges employers face when balancing workforce needs, compliance obligations, and business goals.
This combined law firm and corporate background allows Funmi to bring multiple perspectives to her work. Specifically, she understands the operational realities employers face. Therefore, she develops immigration strategies that are efficient, compliant, and aligned with business objectives. At the same time, she remains focused on the individuals behind each case and the real-life impact of immigration decisions.
Outside of her legal practice, Funmi is passionate about literacy and education. For instance, she is the founder of Akiweli, a nonprofit initiative that supports reading access in communities in Nigeria. Additionally, she enjoys traveling, having visited more than 40 countries. She is also a dedicated yogi, runner, and a proud supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
