In 2012, David Brown and his wife set out to raise $12,000 to build a track as part of a wellness effort at Rousseau elementary in Lincoln, NE. It was especially close to their hearts as their son Thatcher would soon be starting school there, and this track would give him and other students with disabilities the opportunity to be out on the playground engaging with other children. Through Runners for a Reason, Team Thatcher was set up. Ultimately through the support of more than 30 runners and 200 donors, Team Thatcher raised $41,500. In the year following Team Thatcher solicited additional donations to push the total over $46,500. Rousseau was able to not only build the track, but they also added additional handicap accessible areas in the playground that remain for the students and local community.
Brown Immigration Law continues to actively support El Centro de las Américas, a local nonprofit organization, focused on educating and empowering Latino/Hispanic Families and the Community at Large.
