Brown Immigration Law Welcomes Its First Addition to the Partnership – Bailey K. Anderson

Brown Immigration Law is proud to announce our first addition to the partnership, Bailey K. Anderson.

Bailey joined Brown Immigration law in 2014, initially as a legal writer. With both an interest in law and a newfound passion to help immigrants she left the firm and took an accelerated program of study in law school – graduating in just two years! After graduation she returned initially as a Law Clerk and Associate Attorney, and continued to demonstrate her keen intellect, interest in doing the right thing, and unique gift of working through tough cases and ensuring all her clients got the outcome they deserved.

Our Managing Partner, David Brown, had this to say about Bailey: “She is a complete attorney, accomplished leader and has a true innovative spark! She’s had a massive impact behind the scenes in pushing our practice forward and I’m thrilled to welcome her into the partnership! Our combined talents, along with our talented and growing team, make us a unique service offering for high growth clients who seek better partnership and support for their foreign-born talent.”

More recently she held the leadership role of Managing Attorney, working with some of our most complex and important clients and cases. Bailey has been a mentor and role model to many in the firm and has consistently been a change leader for our internal processes and procedures — always adding an exacting eye for both efficiency and scalability as our firm continues to grow.

In addition, our Chief Operating Officer, Cheryl Anderson, has this to say: “In addition to her responsibilities to clients, Bailey has been the point person in creating Brown’s client management app as well as our legal team development and performance evaluation process. Her strategic mindset and talent with data has enabled the firm to excel as a professional services firm and scale with our clients. She’s brilliant, we couldn’t be more delighted for her to partner.”

We are incredibly excited for Bailey K. Anderson and all she brings to our firm. Congratulations, Bailey!

Premium Processing Slowly Phased in for I-140’s (Multinational Managers; NIW’s) for Limited Applications Currently Pending

On May 24, 2022, USCIS announced that, beginning June 1, 2022, it will allow premium processing upgrades for currently pending I-140 petitions in the Multinational Manager EB-1 category and categorization as member of professions with advanced degrees or exceptional ability seeking a national interest waiver (NIW) filed before January 1, 2021.

Then, beginning July 1, 2022, USCIS will accept premium processing upgrades for Multinational Manager I-140s filed before June 1, 2021 and NIW I-140s filed before March 1, 2021.

USCIS previously announced premium processing for these categories would be 45-day processing time.

Initially, these efforts to expand Premium Processing for certain I-140’s have little affect on most individuals clients because of how old the case must already be. We will be monitoring USCIS updates and report when they advance to current cases being eligible for Premium Processing.

Summer 2022 Visa Dropbox Appointments Maxed Out for India

Recent reports have confirmed that consulates in India are maxed out for visa dropbox appointments for Summer 2022, to hopefully resume in September 2022. For those with expired visas (needing a new visa sticker to return to the U.S.), this may make summer travel very difficult, as the availability of in-person visa appointments remains increasingly scarce in addition to the close of the dropbox option for the summer.

The U.S. embassy in India also confirming a goal of issuing 800,000 visas in the next 12 months, but also clarifies that most consulates will be operating at reduced capacities (by a factor of 1/3) which may further delays, which is still due to COVID restrictions.

We will continue to monitor updates about consular availability and other options if essential travel is required. If you are in need of an appointment in India, it is worthwhile to continue checking daily for openings, some have been lucky to schedule an appointment made available by cancellation, although not a reliable system.
